Food insecurity has affected over 100,000 in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties according to data from Feeding America.

As families across the US struggle to provide nutritional meals for their families, it has affected many in our local area. Camden county has over 48,000 food insecure residents, Burrlington county has over 29,000, followed by Gloucester at 22,000. Although the racial disparities that existed prior to COVID remain, the pandemic has made the situation worse. An estimated 24% of the Black population experienced food insecurity in 2020, according to Feed America. Out of the three counties that SNJ serves, Camden county has the highest rate of food insecurity at 9.5% and also the largest percentage of residents living below the poverty threshold at 69%.
